At a briefing held today, the Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, Arzymat Aldayev, reported that the reconstruction project of CHPP-2 is under consideration by government authorities.

According to Aldayev, the contract for gas supply to CHPP-2 has already been signed. "We plan to synchronize all our investment programs based on the fact that gas supply to CHPP-2 should begin in the heating season of 2027/2028. As part of this work, agreements have also been reached with neighboring countries on the construction of main transportation capacities," he noted.

Aldayev emphasized that one of the key tasks facing the construction of CHPP-2 is to reduce the deficit of electrical energy and decentralize the sources of production for both electrical and thermal energy.

He also added that CHPP-2 was originally designed back in Soviet times to provide heating and hot water for the southwestern part of Bishkek, according to the general plan of the capital.

The Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan noted that currently, CHPP-1 uses gas to ignite coal. "In order to fully switch the facility to gas, it is necessary to significantly increase the volumes of blue fuel supplies to the country," he concluded.
