With the onset of the spring season, the Department of Agricultural Crop Expertise and Horticulture has addressed gardeners and agrarians with a recommendation to change their approach to creating orchards. The main focus of the agency is that for the formation of intensive orchards, it is advisable to choose low-growing (semi-dwarf) seedlings. According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, such types of planting material have the greatest potential for increasing the profitability of horticultural businesses.
The main advantage of semi-dwarf trees lies in their unique root system. Unlike tall-growing counterparts, these seedlings adapt more quickly and start bearing fruit sooner, allowing farmers to achieve stable income in a shorter time frame. The compact size of the trees significantly simplifies the process of harvesting and pruning, as well as enables the effective use of precision irrigation systems and rational fertilizer application, which is especially relevant in terms of resource conservation.
Experts also emphasize the importance of choosing quality planting material. The Department strongly advises purchasing seedlings from local nurseries in Kyrgyzstan. Such plants are already adapted to the climatic conditions and soils of the region, ensuring their high survival rate. Local seedlings have increased immunity to common diseases, which minimizes the risks associated with the loss of expensive imported plants.
