The Turkish side proposed to increase trade volume with Kyrgyzstan to $5 billion, which was announced at a joint press conference held after the meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the two countries — Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu and Numan Kurtulmuş, reports Anadolu.

Numan Kurtulmuş emphasized that the foundation for progress in Turkish-Kyrgyz relations is the bilateral agreements reached during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Kyrgyzstan in 2024. Currently, the level of relations between the countries has been elevated to the status of enhanced strategic partnerships.

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament also noted that Ankara will actively support Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for temporary membership in the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States. He added that the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover, which currently stands at only $1.5 billion, to $5 billion was agreed upon by the presidents of both countries earlier.
