As of today, there are 86 seed production farms operating in Kyrgyzstan, engaged in both the production and sale of seeds for various agricultural crops. This was reported on the air by Bakyt Mambetov, the director of the Department for the Expertise of Agricultural Crops and Horticulture under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry.

These farms primarily produce seeds for cereal crops and perennial grasses, such as alfalfa and sainfoin, as well as potatoes. In recent years, they have also started producing corn seeds.

Mambetov noted that in 2023, about 14 nurseries were selected, which provided planting material amounting to approximately 3.8 million seedlings of fruit and berry crops. By 2024, this number has increased to over 8.7 million, and in 2025, it is planned to reach 12 million 152 thousand seedlings. In addition, around 11 more nurseries are currently being prepared for certification, which will allow for an increase in the total volume of planting material to over 15 million seedlings.

The head of the department added that nurseries have begun to focus more on the production of ornamental plants, as the demand for such crops is rising due to the growth of individual housing construction and the improvement of private plots.
