The goal of the project is to completely update the water infrastructure that supports the livelihoods of eight settlements. As part of the work, it is planned to reconstruct 15 kilometers of the left-bank main canal, which has a total length of nearly 16 kilometers, as well as to build 13.5 kilometers of a new upper utility canal. The main task of the modernization is to increase the system's capacity, reduce water losses, and ensure stable irrigation for farmers.
The success of the project implementation became possible thanks to an international tender, which was won by the company China Road. The total amount of the construction contract is 853 million 476 thousand soms. It is expected that all stages of reconstruction will be completed by the end of December 2028.
After the completion of the work, the quality of water supply will improve on 8,225 hectares of irrigated land. More than 114 thousand residents of Bazar-Korgon, as well as the rural districts of Saydykum and Akman, will feel the social changes. The modernization of the system will be an important step towards enhancing food security in the region and supporting the local agricultural sector.
