The agency noted that in 2025, the total electricity consumption in the country reached 10.4 trillion kilowatt-hours, which is a 5% increase compared to the previous year.

Thus, China became the first country in the world to surpass the 10 trillion kilowatt-hours mark in annual electricity consumption, which is more than twice the corresponding figure for the United States and exceeds the total electricity consumption of the European Union, Russia, India, and Japan.

With the growth of next-generation manufacturing capacities in China, high-tech production is actively contributing to the increase in electricity demand.

According to the relevant agency, by the end of November last year, China had more than 19.32 million charging stations for electric vehicles, which is a 52% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
