The Cabinet intends to obtain permission to regulate prices for works and services
Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Benazir Nurlanova reported that if the amendments are approved, the government will gain the right to regulate prices not only on socially significant goods but also on certain works and services, the list of which will be compiled by the cabinet of ministers.
According to information, by the end of 2024, tariffs for services will increase on average by 8.1% compared to the beginning of the year, and citizens have started to frequently file complaints about rising prices for certain types of services.
Additionally, the bill introduces the term "profitability." The deputy minister noted that this approach represents a more delicate method of state regulation.
"Such a mechanism will allow businesses to set prices for goods, works, and services independently, while adhering to a maximum profitability level that should not exceed 25% of the cost price," she added.
Deputy Dastan Bekeshev asked which specific services and works would be subject to regulation in the event of the bill's adoption.
Chairman of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service Jenaly Orozbaev responded that various services and works of social significance would fall under regulation, such as the cost of education in higher educational institutions.
Furthermore, the deputy proposed to include rental prices for housing, car towing, as well as education in schools and kindergartens in the list of regulated items.
