State Anti-Monopoly Service: We will fine for price increases in cafes

The agency will check complaints about public catering establishments

As reported by Jenaly Orozbaev, head of the Anti-Monopoly Regulation Service, fines will be imposed for price increases in cafes and restaurants. He made this statement in an interview for "Kabar".

Since January 1 of this year, a law has come into effect in Kyrgyzstan prohibiting the charging of service fees, which previously amounted to about 10-15%. As a result, citizens have begun to notice a sharp increase in the prices of dishes in public catering establishments.

Orozbaev noted that residents report that some establishments are again including service fees in the price of dishes, despite its cancellation. In accordance with the consumer protection law, control measures are provided, and inspections will be conducted. Violators will be punished in accordance with the law.

Fines for underweight products, reduced portion sizes, or deceiving customers amount to 16,500 soms for individuals and 51,000 soms for legal entities. Additionally, a fine of 30,000 soms is imposed on individuals and 15,000 soms on legal entities for selling goods at inflated prices. Similar fines apply for the absence of price tags in the national currency.
