Starting from January 1, 2026, control over restaurants and cafes will become stricter due to a new resolution from the Cabinet of Ministers that prohibits charging service fees. This was reported by Tazabek, citing the director of the State Antimonopoly Agency, Zhenala Orozbaev.

According to him, within the framework of the Consumer Rights Protection Law, metrological control will be introduced, and the agency has already developed a plan for regular inspections of all catering establishments.
“In case of discrepancies with the declared parameters during inspections, establishments will be subject to fines in accordance with the law, including sanctions for violations of trading rules,” Orozbaev noted.

He also added that special attention will be paid to the compliance of the actual weight of dishes with the data indicated in the documentation. For example, if the menu states 300 grams of dough and 400 grams of filling or liquid, and the actual weight is below the declared amount, the establishments will also be fined.

In addition to scheduled inspections, the State Antimonopoly Agency will have the ability to conduct unscheduled inspections in response to consumer complaints, and such inspections may be carried out without prior notice.

The agency emphasized that the main goal of the resolution is to ensure transparency in pricing so that consumers clearly understand what they are paying for. The control over compliance with the norms of the new resolution will be entrusted to the State Antimonopoly Agency.
