Recently, an incident occurred in Bishkek that caused public outcry: a half-century-old poplar was cut down near a café at the corner of Akhunbaev and Shukurov streets. The owners of the establishment commented on the situation, as it sparked discontent among local residents.

According to information provided by the owners, the decision to cut down the tree was not made by them, but came from municipal services. The cutting work was carried out by employees of "Bishkekzelenhoz".

In a statement, the café owners said: "We did not organize or control this work. The act states that the tree was deemed hazardous based on the decision of the municipal service."

They also noted that they had previously contacted "Bishkekzelenhoz" with a request to remove three trees for parking purposes, but ultimately, only one of them was allowed to be cut down.

The owners explained that the other two trees were deemed healthy and were not permitted to be cut down. Ultimately, it was decided to remove the largest tree, which specialists considered hazardous, they added.

From the café owners' perspective, the roots of the tree could have damaged the irrigation system. To support their claims, they provided photographic evidence.

However, local residents disagree with the conclusions of the municipal services. In their opinion, the poplar appeared healthy and posed no danger, raising doubts about the correctness of the decision made.

The discussion of the situation continues among the city's residents, and many are calling for greater transparency regarding the demolition of green spaces in the city.
