Cafes and restaurants will be checked due to complaints about rising prices – Antimonopoly

In connection with the increase in prices for dishes in restaurants and cafes, antimonopoly authorities will begin to impose fines. This was announced by Zhenaly Orozbaev, chairman of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, in an interview with the Kabar agency.

As of January 1 of this year, a new decree came into force in the country, abolishing the collection of service charges in public establishments. Currently, the service is receiving complaints from customers.

Orozbaev noted that many consumers point out that some establishments have included the service charge in the price of dishes, which violates the new rules.

“According to the law on consumer rights protection, special control is provided. We have approved an inspection plan that will cover all cafes and restaurants. If violations are detected, penalties will be imposed. For example, if the portion of a dish turns out to be smaller than stated, this will also result in a fine for violating trade rules,” he added.

According to the head of the agency, control will be exercised over all public establishments. In the event of complaints from citizens, unscheduled inspections may also take place, while scheduled inspections will be conducted with prior notification of business owners.

“Today, citizens have the opportunity to clearly understand what they are paying for. The antimonopoly service will continue to carry out control measures,” concluded Zhenaly Orozbaev.
