A new migration policy is actively being developed in Russia. This was stated by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

He noted that several legislative initiatives aimed at improving migration policy will be presented in the near future.

Volodin reported that for migrants who have been in Russia for more than three months, it is planned to reduce the mandatory medical examination period from 90 to 30 days.

It is also proposed to require medical institutions to transfer information to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia about findings and to Rospotrebnadzor regarding cases of infectious diseases detected in migrants, in order to ensure their prompt deportation.

In addition, administrative responsibility will be introduced for foreign citizens who evade medical examinations. For such an offense, fines are provided, as well as the possibility of expulsion by court decision. Criminal liability for forgery of documents confirming the absence of dangerous diseases will be tightened, emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

He added that the proposed measures are aimed at strengthening control over migrants and increasing the level of public safety in the country.
