The Russian authorities intend to develop an initiative that will introduce a mandatory pre-trial procedure for resolving family conflicts using mediation. This was reported by TASS.
According to the publication, the government has already approved a plan aimed at implementing policies in the field of family and demographics.
As part of the legislative initiative, it is proposed to suspend court proceedings in civil cases during the mediation process, as well as to introduce mandatory pre-trial resolution of family disputes with the help of mediators.
In addition, the changes imply conducting a mandatory informational meeting with a mediator for parents involved in disputes concerning children.
During these events, an authorized federal body will be appointed, which will take responsibility for forming and implementing state policy in the field of mediation, as well as for legal regulation and information support in this area. There are also plans to create a unified registry of mediators engaged in resolving family disputes and conflicts related to children.
The implementation of this initiative is scheduled for 2026-2027.
