According to Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, new legislative measures regarding migration policy are being developed in the country. He announced this on his Telegram channel.
The following changes are planned:
1. To reduce the mandatory medical examination period for foreign citizens planning to stay in Russia for more than three months from 90 to 30 days.
2. To require medical institutions to inform:
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia about issued conclusions;
Rospotrebnadzor about cases of infectious diseases detected among migrants for their prompt deportation.
3. To introduce administrative fines for migrants evading medical examinations, which may lead to deportation by court decision.
4. To tighten criminal liability for falsifying documents confirming the absence of dangerous diseases and for their distribution.
It is worth noting that starting from 2025, the requirements for migrants in Russia have become stricter: the visa-free stay period has been reduced to 90 days per year (since January 1), a new deportation procedure has been introduced, and from the end of June 2025, visa-free migrants are required to submit a notification via the "RuID" app 72 hours before entry, indicating the purpose of their visit.
Additionally, a new phase of the experiment for incoming foreigners started on December 1.
