The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic informs its citizens who plan to apply for non-immigrant B-1/B-2 visas (for business and tourism) to the United States of America about the introduction of new requirements from the U.S.
According to the U.S. Department of State, starting from January 21, 2026, citizens of several countries, including Kyrgyzstan, will be required to provide a financial deposit ranging from $5,000 to $15,000. The specific amount of the deposit will be determined by the consular officer during the interview.
In addition, candidates will need to provide Form I-352 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, but only at the request of the consular officer, and confirm their agreement to make the deposit through the online payment system Pay.gov, managed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs draws attention to the following points:
- making a deposit does not guarantee the issuance of a visa;
- the deposit is non-refundable in case of a change in immigration status or exceeding the allowed length of stay;
- these rules apply only to new applications submitted after the introduction of these changes.
Citizens who receive a visa with a financial deposit will be able to enter and exit the U.S. only through certain points of entry:
- Logan International Airport in Boston (BOS);
- John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York (JFK);
- Dulles International Airport in Washington (IAD).
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in denial of entry or improper exit from the country.
It should be noted that the inclusion of certain countries in this list is related to a high level of visa regime violations recorded among their citizens.
In light of the above, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic strongly recommends that its citizens planning a trip to the U.S. familiarize themselves with the new visa requirements in advance and strictly adhere to them, avoiding violations of the visa and immigration legislation of the host country.
