According to the latest data, the list currently includes thirteen countries, two of which are outside Africa, significantly complicating the visa application process for citizens of these states.

Last week, Bhutan, Botswana, the Central African Republic, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Namibia, and Turkmenistan were added to the updated list. These changes took effect on January 1, as indicated on the travel.state.gov website.

This measure is part of the new strategy of the Trump administration to tighten immigration rules. Now all foreigners in need of a visa are required to undergo a personal interview and provide information about their social media activity over the past few years, as well as details about their previous travels and their families' living conditions.

Supporters of this initiative within the U.S. authorities argue that the bond, which ranges from $5,000 to $15,000, encourages citizens of these countries to adhere to the terms of their visas.

It is important to note that paying the bond does not guarantee visa approval. However, this amount will be refunded in case of a visa denial or if the holder can confirm compliance with all visa regime conditions.

The new countries subject to this requirement include Mauritania, São Tomé and Príncipe, Tanzania, Gambia, Malawi, and Zambia, which were added to the list in August and October of last year.
