Donald Trump expressed the opinion that he does not believe Ukraine actually carried out an attack on the residence of the President of Russia. He emphasized that the attack in question did occur, but is not related to Ukrainian actions.

“I don’t believe that it really took place,” Trump noted while speaking to reporters aboard a plane heading from Florida to Washington.

According to him, “something happened relatively close, but it has nothing to do with this.”

Earlier, Russian authorities accused Ukraine of attempting to attack Vladimir Putin's residence located in the Novgorod region using 91 drones. As reported by the WSJ, Ukrainian forces did not target the President of Russia or his residence; according to CIA assessments, their target was a military installation in the same area, but not in close proximity to Putin's residence.

It was reported that on the night of December 29, 2025, Ukraine carried out a drone attack on the state residence of the Russian leader in the Novgorod region, as previously stated by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a flight mission file was retrieved from the downed Ukrainian drone on December 29, which was heading towards Putin's residence. The data was transmitted to the American side.
