The Development Bank finances the construction of a hydropower plant in Naryn

On January 26, the Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic signed an agreement to finance the construction project of the "Kulanak" hydropower plant, located in the Naryn region.

The hydropower plant will be situated in the village of Kulanak on the Naryn River and will be able to generate 435 million kWh per year, providing an installed capacity of 100 MW. This will help reduce the country's energy deficit by 11%.

The main advantages of the project include:

Strengthening Kyrgyzstan's position in the regional electricity market;

Reducing dependence on fluctuations in fuel prices in the energy sector and the country's economy;

Increasing revenues for both local and national budgets;

Creating about 100 new jobs for local residents;

Expanding irrigated land areas in the Kulanak valley.
