Kyrgyzstan imported 11.5 million kWh of electricity from Tajikistan for 11.2 million soms in 2025, - Ministry of Energy of Tajikistan

In 2025, Tajikistan found itself one step ahead in import-export relations with Kyrgyzstan, as the volume of electricity imports from the neighboring country exceeded the volume of its exports. This data was provided by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The total electricity generation in Tajikistan for the specified year amounted to 23 billion 982.6 million kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity exports reached 5 billion 356.1 million kWh, with Kyrgyzstan receiving 11.5 million kWh, which is equivalent to 1.2 million somoni (11.2 million soms, approximately 0.97–0.98 som per 1 kWh).

The Ministry noted that more than 90% of the total electricity export volume was carried out from April to September, when rivers are at high water levels.

Electricity imports from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan, according to the information from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Tajikistan, amounted to 13.9 million kWh.

According to OJSC "NESC," the total volume of electricity imports in Kyrgyzstan in 2025 amounted to 3.8 billion kWh. The main sources of supply included Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
