- During the meeting held on February 4, the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh approved the draft law "On Amendments to the Law on Renewable Energy Sources" at its last two stages of consideration.

Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov presented information about the draft law.

He noted that this draft law was developed in accordance with the presidential decree regarding measures to attract investments in the green economy, including projects in the fuel and energy complex.

As part of the draft law, it is proposed to abolish the guaranteed tariff for electricity produced using renewable energy sources, which is currently set at 1.3.

In addition, at present, electricity tariffs are set by the Cabinet of Ministers in the national currency. With the adoption of the draft law, the possibility of setting prices in foreign currency for the implementation of investment projects and public-private partnership projects in the energy sector will be introduced, which should positively affect the attraction of foreign investments and improve the investment climate in the country.

The draft law also clarifies the concept of the preferential period for the maximum tariff for renewable energy sources, introduces the term "auction," which will be used for selecting projects and determining tariffs by lowering the maximum level. This will ensure transparency in the selection of projects and enhance their competitiveness.
