During the meeting of the Committee on Industrial Policy, Transport, Fuel and Energy Complex, Architecture, and Construction, held on January 20, 2026, Deputy Kunduzbek Sulaymanov expressed interest in the issues of financial revenues generated by entities involved in renewable energy sources (RES) from the sale of electricity.

Another deputy, Talaybek Masabirov, clarified details about the proposed regulation concerning the conduct of auctions to establish tariffs for projects utilizing RES.

Additionally, the parliamentarian inquired about how many small hydropower plants (HPPs) are operating in Kyrgyzstan and what their total capacity is.

This question was answered by Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov, who reported that several small HPPs with a total capacity of 115-120 MW were commissioned in 2025.

As an example, he mentioned the small HPP in Kara-Kul, which has a capacity of 18 MW.

The Deputy Minister also added that new small HPPs are expected to be launched in 2026.

At the current meeting, the draft Law "On Amendments to the Law on Renewable Energy Sources" was being considered in the first reading.
