Ministry of Labor of Kyrgyzstan: the number of unemployed has decreased by 22% over the year

The Ministry of Labor of Kyrgyzstan reported a 22% decrease in the unemployment rate over the past year.

K. Dosmatov, the First Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration, shared data on the positive outcomes of the implementation of state programs at the ministry's board meeting.

According to the presented data, the official unemployment rate in the country stands at 1.4%, which is a significant decrease compared to previous years: 2.9% in 2021, 2.8% in 2022, 2.9% in 2023, and 1.8% in 2024. Currently, 56,500 people are registered with employment services, which is 20% less than in the same period last year (70,600). Officially, 38,100 citizens hold the status of unemployed, confirming a 22% decrease in the number of unemployed over the year.

This year, 17,500 people were employed, and the number of participants in active programs reached 19,800.

Particular attention was paid to the "Internship for Youth" program, which aims to develop professional skills and assist in the employment of young specialists.

As part of this initiative, which is being implemented in 2024-2025, internship participants in 30 pilot districts and cities receive a monthly salary, which has attracted 3,000 young people.

In 2025, 1,851 people completed internships, of whom 1,332 found jobs.

They are now employed in various public and private institutions, holding positions such as cashiers, specialists, social worker assistants, nurses, credit specialists, engineers, economists, HR personnel, massage therapists, hairdressers, auto electricians, and design assistants.
