According to reports, Kazakhs decided to check this QR code with their phones and found that instead of leading to the brand's website, it opened a resource dedicated to gambling. It turned out that the "surprise" affected both small and large packages of Oreo cookies.
A correspondent from Kursiv LifeStyle decided to find out what is happening with the QR code at the moment. As a result, it was discovered that the online casino indicated by the code is no longer accessible, but this page is also unrelated to the Oreo brand.
Now users are faced with a set of suspicious offers, ranging from "free iPhone 13" to vehicle checks by VIN number and "AI for business" services.
Representatives of Oreo Kazakhstan commented on the situation, noting that it occurred due to a technical error and hacking of the QR code. They stated: "A malfunctioning QR code was detected on Oreo packages, which leads to third-party resources. These links are not related to Oreo in any way, and the brand does not request personal data through such links. We are working to resolve the issue and urge not to use QR codes from the packaging."
