As reported by Tengrinews.kz, Kazakhstan joined the World Council without making the required billion-dollar contribution.
To become a member of the World Council, a sovereign decision from the state is solely required. From the moment the country joins the Council, its membership will be valid for three years.
The Akorda explained that the mentioned contribution of 1 billion dollars in the charter is voluntary and does not affect the possibility of membership. If such a contribution is made within the first 12 months, it will allow for an extension of membership in the World Council for a period exceeding three years.
The World Council is an intergovernmental organization initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump. On January 22 in Davos, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the charter of the World Council, participating in the ceremony alongside leaders and representatives from 18 other countries.
