This fight, involving citizens of Uzbekistan, occurred in April 2025 at a gas station in Dubai. As a result of this incident, two Uzbeks died: one was killed on the spot with a knife, and the second, who fell into a coma, died in the hospital.
According to the Dubai Prosecutor's Office, the conflict arose between two familiar groups and was related to a long-standing personal dispute. All participants were identified through surveillance camera footage and witness testimonies, after which they were detained in a hotel in another emirate, and the case was referred to the prosecutor's office.
Uzbek diplomats held a meeting on April 25 last year with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department and reported that as a result of the incident, 15 citizens of Uzbekistan were detained, and investigative actions were underway.
Earlier, UAE authorities expressed concerns that the increasing number of offenses involving Uzbeks abroad could negatively affect the visa-free regime in place between the two countries.
Journalists from Azattyk Asia previously reported that after the murder of a rabbi from Israel by citizens of Uzbekistan in Dubai in November 2024, the authorities in Abu Dhabi began denying entry to many male citizens of Uzbekistan, sending them back. At the end of March last year, three Uzbeks found guilty of this crime were sentenced to death by a UAE court.
