The accused admitted his responsibility for the terrorist act that resulted in the death of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, who headed the troops for radiation, chemical, and biological protection.
Additionally, he was fined 1 million rubles. Other participants in the incident received various prison terms not exceeding 25 years.
For instance, Robert Safaryan, a native of Azerbaijan who provided the explosives, was sentenced to 25 years in a strict regime prison, of which he will spend nine years in jail. Ingushes Batukhan Tochiev and Ramazan Padiev, who provided housing for the perpetrator, received sentences of 22 and 18 years respectively, with the first eight and six years to be served in prison, as well as a fine of 200,000 rubles.
The investigation established that Kurbonov, who spoke little Russian, traveled to Moscow via Baku and Astana. In the capital, he received 431,000 rubles through a crypto ATM. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, about 842,000 rubles were spent on organizing the terrorist act.
For reference, on December 17, 2024, an explosive device hidden in a scooter parked near the entrance of a residential building was detonated on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow. As a result of the explosion, General Kirillov and his driver were killed.
