Recently, the Second Western District Military Court announced the verdict for those accused in the case of the assassination attempt on Vasily Prozorov, a former lieutenant colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Vladimir Golovchenko received 26 years, while Ivan Paskary was sentenced to 24 years in prison. They are to spend part of their time in prison conditions, and the rest in a strict regime colony, as reported by "RIA Novosti".
The judge, while announcing the verdict, stated: "To sentence Paskary to 24 years of imprisonment, of which the first five years he will spend in prison, the remainder in a strict regime colony, with a fine of 700,000 rubles; for Golovchenko — 26 years of imprisonment, of which the first six years he will spend in prison <...>, with a fine of 1.4 million rubles" (quote from TASS).
Earlier in this case, a verdict had already been issued for another defendant, Ukrainian citizen Rostislav Zhuravlev, who received 16 years of imprisonment.
The incident occurred on April 12, 2024, when Prozorov's Toyota Land Cruiser exploded in the courtyard of a house on Korovinskoye Highway in Moscow. The explosive device detonated as soon as the former SBU officer got into his car and started the engine, resulting in him sustaining injuries.
According to Prozorov, he worked in the SBU from 1999 to 2018, and since 2014 began to interact with Russian special services.
