Tajikistan Border Guards Neutralize Attack from Afghanistan

On December 23 at 23:30, an attack initiated by three members of a terrorist group occurred near border post No. 5 "Bog" of the Border Service Unit 0341 "Sarchashma," located in Shamsiddin Shohin. This was reported by the border troops of Tajikistan.

According to information published on December 25 through the National Information Agency "Khovar," the attackers crossed the border and attempted to assault the border post. Tajik border guards detected them on December 24 at 11:15, but the terrorists refused to surrender and began armed resistance.

As a result of the combat operation, all three attackers were neutralized, and from the scene of the incident, three M-16 firearms, an AK-47 assault rifle, three foreign pistols with silencers, ten hand grenades, a night vision binocular, explosives, and other equipment were seized.

Unfortunately, during the clash, two officers of the Border Troops of the State National Security Committee of Tajikistan - Zirekhbon Navruzbekov and Ismatullo Kurbonov - were killed.

The agency noted that this is already the third case of armed attack in the last month related to terrorist activities and border crossings from Afghanistan, resulting in casualties among both civilians and military personnel.

The border troops emphasized that such incidents indicate a serious irresponsibility of the "Taliban" government in fulfilling international obligations to ensure security at the border with Tajikistan and in combating terrorism.

Furthermore, the agency expressed hope that the "Taliban" would take responsibility and take necessary steps to improve the situation at the border.

Currently, the situation at the state border is stable, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Earlier, as a result of attacks on November 26 and 30, also originating from Afghanistan, five Chinese citizens were killed, and five others were injured. The attacks occurred on the base of a mining company and a construction company in the border areas of Tajikistan.

Tajikistan condemned these acts of violence and called on the "Taliban" to detain their organizers.

The "Taliban" Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in turn, claimed that the attacks were organized by groups aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region.

Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon condemned the attacks and instructed the country's security forces to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
