According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Akhror Burkhanov noted that the country's agencies are actively studying all the circumstances of the case and protecting the rights of the detained.
The Dubai prosecutor's office clarified that the fight occurred between two familiar groups and was triggered by a long-standing personal conflict. The participants in the fight were identified thanks to video recordings from surveillance cameras and witness testimonies, after which they were detained at a hotel in another emirate.
On April 25 of last year, a meeting took place between Uzbek diplomats and representatives of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department, during which it was reported that 15 citizens of Uzbekistan had been detained, and investigative actions are ongoing.
Furthermore, the UAE authorities expressed concern about the increase in offenses committed by citizens of Uzbekistan abroad, which could negatively affect the visa-free regime between the two countries.
