The Ministry of Emergency Situations has launched a project to enhance readiness for recovery after natural disasters

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, attended by the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry, Kanat Karybai uulu, and the head of the Asian Development Bank mission, Steven Goldfinch. The ministry's press service reported this on January 29.

During the meeting, a regional technical assistance project of the ADB was officially initiated, aimed at "Enhancing the readiness of countries in the Asia-Pacific region for sustainable recovery from disasters." This project is being implemented with the assistance of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The project is planned to cover several countries, including Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Timor-Leste. During the negotiations, key goals and objectives of the technical assistance were discussed, including issues of institutional readiness for post-disaster recovery, inter-agency coordination, distribution of responsibilities, as well as further steps to strengthen national capacity in accordance with international standards.

An introductory workshop dedicated to enhancing Kyrgyzstan's readiness for sustainable recovery from disasters is taking place in Bishkek on January 28-29. The event involves relevant government agencies and international partners of this project.
