According to the Global Peace Index (GPI) for 2025, Mongolia continues to hold one of the leading positions among peaceful countries in Asia, as confirmed by several years of stable rankings. This is reported by MiddleAsianNews.
The index, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), assesses the level of peace in 163 countries using 23 indicators grouped into three main categories: societal safety and security, the extent of domestic and international conflict, and the degree of militarization.
Mongolia has entered the top ten most peaceful countries in Asia, ranking 5th in the region and 37th in the world ranking. With an index of 1.719, the country is characterized by high social safety and a low level of internal conflicts compared to its neighbors.
The report emphasizes that Mongolia has strengthened its security position, improving its results compared to many other countries in Asia as of 2025.
Singapore ranks first in the index, followed by Japan, Malaysia, and Bhutan. Mongolia is in 5th place, with Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, East Timor, and Laos following behind.
The Global Peace Index (GPI) indicates that the Asia-Pacific region remains the second most peaceful in the world, although the overall level of peace has slightly decreased here. Nevertheless, there are positive changes, especially in Indonesia, which shows the highest increase in peacefulness over the past five years due to active counter-terrorism efforts. In contrast, Myanmar has been named the least peaceful country in the region, experiencing a significant decline in indicators amid civil war.
The 19th edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI) covers 163 independent states and territories, ranking them by their level of peacefulness and encompassing 99.7% of the world's population. The GPI, developed by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), is a key global indicator of peacefulness.
