In Bishkek, at the Republican Specialized Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children, a meeting took place attended by parents and educators, as well as representatives of the local authorities.

Among the participants were the Minister of Education Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, the First Deputy Minister of Education Mukhtarbek Baymurzaev, the Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services Bakai Turdugulov, and the Vice Mayor of Bishkek Viktoria Mozgacheva.

Parents and teachers expressed their strong disagreement with the plans to relocate the educational institution to the village of Tash-Döbö (Vorontsovka). They believe that this will lead to serious problems with logistics and the socialization of children with visual impairments.

“Being within the city limits is fundamentally important, as most students and their families live in Bishkek and need constant access to medical, rehabilitation, and social services. Moving the school outside the city will significantly complicate daily logistics and the safety of children, create additional financial and time burdens on families, which may violate the rights of children with disabilities to equal access to education,” their statement indicated.
