Imran Subankulov, an eighth-grader from the village of Kara-Bulak in the Leylek district, recently returned from the USA, where he won a gold medal at the international mathematics olympiad.

This information is reported by a Turmush correspondent.

Imran shares that his passion for mathematics began in the first grade, and participating in the olympiad was not too challenging for him. He is currently studying in the 8th grade.

“I started solving math problems even before I went to the first grade. My interest in this subject was strong. The competition in America turned out to be easy for me. There were also participants from Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other countries,” he recounts.

Imran's mother, Gulzara Kalysova, notes that her son has shown interest in mathematics from a very young age.

“Since childhood, he has been fascinated by mathematics. In elementary school, he preferred 96-page notebooks over the small 12-page ones. His enthusiasm was so strong that some teachers couldn't always appreciate it. He loves to solve Japanese sudoku, quickly assembles cubes, and repairs calculators,” Gulzara shares.

In November of last year, Imran participated in the international mathematics olympiad, where he successfully passed the first round and earned the opportunity to travel to the USA. He took part in the olympiad held in Miami, Florida, where he won a gold medal. About 100 students from nine schools participated in the competition.

Previously, we believed that participation in olympiads was only possible from the 9th grade. However, we enrolled him in a private school starting from the 6th grade, where teachers develop individual programs according to the children's interests.

We hope that in the future he will be able to enter the most prestigious university, even if it is abroad. We believe that he will discover new directions in mathematics and make significant breakthroughs.

Imran has a shy personality. Even light praise at school can bring him to tears. Nevertheless, he is becoming more confident with age. He is neat and responsible, studies well, and takes care of household chores. When given money, he spends it wisely. His handwriting is not perfect, but it is neat. We even consulted with psychologists, and they explained that children who are actively engaged in intellectual activities may pay less attention to the neatness of their handwriting,” added Gulzara Kalysova.

Fifteen students from Kyrgyzstan went to the olympiad, and two of them were able to win gold medals.
