According to experienced sport fishermen, this surge in activity may be caused by sharp changes in the weather. "As soon as we arrived at the spot, drilled the holes, and settled in, the bites started one after another. We used earthworms combined with maggots as bait. The bites were quite cautious, and it was easy to miss them if you got distracted from the hole," said fisherman Nikolai Radchenko.
Primarily, roach, perch, and crucian carp were caught, while a pike "bit" on a live bait. In the end, within a short period of time, the three of us managed to catch almost five kilograms of fish," he added.
