Kyrgyz film "Kurak" won an award at an international film festival in India

The film explores the fates of women who have faced violence


The film "Kurak" from Kyrgyzstan was awarded at the 17th International Film Festival in Bangalore (BIFFES), which takes place from January 29 to February 6.

This festival, organized by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy with the support of the local government, is considered one of the most significant and rapidly developing in India. This year, the program features over 200 films from 60 countries, as well as around 400 screenings on 13 screens.

"Kurak" became the only film from Central Asia to enter the main competition among 15 feature films.

The director and producer of the project is Erke Jumakmatova. The film addresses themes of violence and its consequences for women.
