The draft law on state control in the field of breeding livestock is being discussed in the Jogorku Kenesh
During the session of the Jogorku Kenesh, the second reading of the draft law aimed at strengthening state control over breeding livestock, including the export of animals, is taking place.
The First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, stated that the plan is to first register the breeds of Kyrgyz horses and then consider the possibility of banning their export outside the country.
“For example, in Turkmenistan, the export of Akhal-Teke horses is prohibited, and in China, the export of certain types of tea is restricted. We also need to first register Kyrgyz horses and then introduce a ban on their export,” emphasized Kerimaliev.
He also mentioned that specialists from France recently visited Kyrgyzstan and recognized several breeds as Kyrgyz.
The Deputy Minister added that Kyrgyz horses are in high demand in Saudi Arabia due to their endurance and low feed and water requirements. In this regard, the authorities consider it important to strengthen control over exports, up to restricting the export of certain types of animals, in order to preserve the breeding stock of the country.
