Artificial insemination allows farmers to save up to 60,000 soms

According to information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, one of the main directions of the country's agrarian policy is the development of breeding livestock. Due to the high market value of breeding animals, the ministry recommends that farmers use artificial insemination as a more cost-effective alternative to purchasing expensive livestock.

According to data from the ministry's press service, the price of a breeding cow of the "Simmental" breed currently reaches 350,000 soms, while a one-week-old calf costs about 60,000 soms. This makes the purchase of livestock unaffordable for most farms. To assist in this situation, the government offers farmers free breeding semen through specialists in the regions. At the same time, the cost of the insemination service is only 1,000 soms, which allows livestock breeders to obtain quality breeding offspring with minimal expenses and significantly increase their profits.

Currently, farmers are offered semen from four high-yield breeds that are well adapted to the climatic conditions of Kyrgyzstan: Holstein-Friesian, Simmental, Swiss, and Aberdeen-Angus. These breeds are distinguished by high performance in both meat and milk production, as well as good endurance under local conditions.

The use of artificial insemination not only contributes to increasing the productivity of individual farms but also supports the sustainable development of livestock farming at the national level. The ministry emphasizes the need for farmers to consult with regional specialists to receive qualified assistance in improving the breeding qualities of their herds.
