On February 15, an event was held in Kara-Balta dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

The memorial rally began with a procession from the building of the Jayil District Administration to the memorial for internationalist soldiers, located in the lower park of the city. Among the participants were Afghan veterans from the Jayil District, representatives of local administrations, heads of various services and organizations, as well as residents of the city.

At the memorial, traditional activities took place: laying flowers, a moment of silence, and a ceremonial salute from the military commissariat in memory of those who did not return from the war. These rituals have become an important part of the annual events.

Speakers emphasized that over the decade, more than 7,000 servicemen from Kyrgyzstan fulfilled their international duty, demonstrating courage and resilience in the defense of peace and the execution of orders.

Currently, there are 145 veterans of the Afghan war living in the Jayil District. For them, this day symbolizes not only a historical date but also the memory of their fallen comrades and the difficulties they faced during their service.

After the rally, an award ceremony took place, during which Afghan veterans were presented with honorary certificates from the akimat, the city administration of Kara-Balta, and the military commissariat.
