Kyrgyzstan has submitted a bid to host the AFC U-23 Asian Cup

The Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU) has officially requested the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the right to host the U-23 Asian Cup in 2028. This tournament is significant for youth football on the continent, as it features the 16 best Olympic teams from Asia.

In its bid, Kyrgyzstan proposed infrastructure that meets international standards. This includes modern stadiums, training facilities, hotels, and efficient transportation logistics. The KFU is confident that hosting a tournament of this level will act as a catalyst for modernizing the country’s football infrastructure, enhance its international image, and attract youth to sports.

The competition for the right to host the tournament promises to be serious: in addition to Kyrgyzstan, bids have been submitted by Jordan, Japan, Qatar, the UAE, and Uzbekistan.

An inspection commission from the AFC is expected to visit from March 2 to 6 to assess the readiness of the country’s infrastructure. After this, a final decision will be made regarding the location of the Asian Cup. The KFU views this project as an important step in the development of national football and in raising the level of young players on the international stage.
