In Tajikistan, 405 citizens were released from legal responsibility for liking extremist and terrorist materials on social media, as well as for their distribution, reports the Asia Plus agency.

The country's Attorney General, Habibullo Vohidzoda, noted that the number of crimes related to terrorism and extremism decreased by more than 23 percent (or 314 cases) in 2025 compared to the previous year.

He emphasized that this reduction was made possible by the directive of President Emomali Rahmon, which mandated not to initiate criminal cases for likes and comments on social media. Additionally, active explanatory work was carried out among citizens.

The decision to abolish criminal liability for likes and reposts was made by the Parliament of Tajikistan and signed by the president in May 2025. According to the head of state, some government agencies had abused their powers by initiating unfounded criminal cases against citizens, and this practice required immediate cessation.
