The leading sanitary doctor of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, Maria Kushubakova, shared important information about the negative consequences of improper nutrition among schoolchildren on "Birinchi Radio." She emphasized that such habits can have serious health implications in the future.

According to sanitary and epidemiological standards, there is a list of products prohibited for sale in school cafeterias. This includes items such as fried foods, natural coffee, tonic and energy drinks, alcohol, soda, chewing gum, lollipops, and other sweets.

“There used to be a government decree prohibiting the sale of alcoholic and tobacco products within a radius of 100 meters from schools, but it has been revoked. Currently, we are developing a new document that is under review by the Cabinet of Ministers. It will include restrictions on the sale of harmful products, such as chips, croutons, and sweet carbonated drinks, within a radius of 100 meters from educational institutions,” Kushubakova said.

Maria Kushubakova urged parents to pay attention to their children's nutrition. “We should not expect that a doctor can explain to each child which products are harmful. Unfortunately, many parents are unwilling to spend even 10-20 soms on school meals, yet they readily give money for pocket expenses. As a result, children often spend 200 soms on unhealthy products. I recommend reducing or completely eliminating pocket money so that children can eat in the school cafeteria, where we offer only healthy dishes, such as baked or steamed food,” she added.

She also noted that improper nutrition can lead to food poisoning and other serious illnesses. “The consequences may manifest in five, six, or even ten years. As a result, conditions such as stomach ulcers, chronic gastritis, allergies, and dermatitis may develop. Therefore, it is important for parents to explain to their children how crucial it is to eat properly,” concluded the sanitary doctor.
