As part of the celebration of World Wildlife Day, the 12th annual award ceremony took place in Kyrgyzstan, honoring rangers and activists who made significant contributions to the fight against poaching. The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision reported on this event.

The event was organized by the Snow Leopard Foundation in Kyrgyzstan with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Since the initiative began, awards have been given to 171 individuals who contributed to preventing illegal hunting of the snow leopard and other wild animals. This year, 35 rangers and citizens who demonstrated courage and persistence were awarded honorary diplomas and prizes for identifying 40 violations.

It is worth noting that rangers operate in remote mountainous areas where they patrol territories, combat poaching, and illegal arms trafficking. Their work is crucial for the conservation of rare species such as the snow leopard, a symbol of Kyrgyzstan's highlands.

The Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, A. Toktobaev, emphasized that the protection of biodiversity and support for those who defend nature remain key priorities of the state environmental policy.
