According to the World Health Organization, around 90 million children aged 5 to 19 worldwide face hearing problems. Moreover, hearing loss often goes unnoticed.

The organization also emphasizes that among children, there are preventable and treatable causes of hearing loss, such as otitis media with effusion, chronic suppurative otitis media, and earwax plugs. The process of hearing loss can begin subtly and gradually worsen.

The lack of timely diagnosis and medical assistance not only negatively affects a child's hearing but also impacts their speech, language, and cognitive skills, as well as their socialization. This can lead to decreased educational achievements, limit employment opportunities, and cause long-term economic issues.

"Early diagnosis and treatment of ear diseases and hearing loss are critically important to prevent their long-term consequences for a child's development, education, and future. Systematic screening and prompt response within school health and pediatric programs can significantly improve outcomes in treating ear and hearing diseases in children," emphasize WHO specialists.

According to their data, simple and cost-effective health measures can prevent more than 60% of cases of hearing loss among children.
Every year, World Hearing Day is celebrated on March 3.

This year, the campaign is held under the slogan "From Home to School: Caring for Every Child's Hearing," and is dedicated to two key tasks:

The Republican Center for Health Promotion and the parent organizations "Hearing Together" and "Balanur" provide consultations to families on early diagnosis and support for children with hearing impairments. The International Association of Hearing Rehabilitation Specialists also assists parents and professionals in this field.

Starting in 2025, the "Uplift" Foundation and the Children's Rehabilitation and Family Support Center in Bishkek will begin providing early intervention services for children with hearing impairments.
