According to information from the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, in 2009, there were 6 art schools operating in the country, but by 2024, this number had decreased to 3. Over the years, this figure has fluctuated: from 2010 to 2018, the number of schools varied from 4 to 5, and since 2019, the number of institutions has consistently been 3.
Throughout these years, the highest number of art schools remained in Bishkek. While in 2009, there were 11 schools operating in the capital, starting from 2014, this number dropped to just one school.
In the Jalal-Abad region, 2 art schools have continued to operate since 2011, and this level has been maintained until 2024.
In the Batken region, data on art schools has been absent since 2018, and in Osh, no educational institutions have been recorded in recent years.
As for the number of students, it has also changed unevenly. In 2009, 554 children were enrolled in art schools, in 2010 – 337, and in 2018, a record number of 664 students was recorded. By 2024, the number of students had decreased to 364.
The highest number of students in 2024 was recorded in the Jalal-Abad region — here, 204 children are enrolled, while in Bishkek, there are 160. In the Batken region, data has been absent since 2018, and in Osh, no students have been registered in recent years.
Thus, there is an overall reduction in the network of children's art schools in Kyrgyzstan, with the majority of students concentrated in the Jalal-Abad region and Bishkek.
