Ministry of Health: The number of patients with mental disorders is increasing in Kyrgyzstan

At a briefing, the head of the primary healthcare department of the Ministry of Health, Nurgul Ibraeva, reported that the number of patients with such disorders continues to grow. According to the electronic health center, as of January 1, 2025, more than 50,000 cases have been registered. In the dynamics over the past three years, about 3,000 to 4,500 people receive a diagnosis for the first time each year. Thus, the increase has been about 10-11% annually.

Ibraeva also noted that during the analysis of statistics over the past ten years, it became evident that the growth in the number of patients has been observed since 2021.

This trend is not only observed in Kyrgyzstan but also worldwide, the Ministry of Health representative added.

According to Ibraeva, the World Health Organization has confirmed that this is a global issue. Therefore, the Ministry of Health pays significant attention to mental health issues and the development of psychiatric services. She also reminded that mental disorders are among the main non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cancers.
