During the meeting with Sadyr Japarov, issues of cooperation with African countries were discussed
On March 16, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, met with the Foreign Minister of Ghana, Samuel Abla Kwo, as reported by the press service of the head of state.
During the negotiations, the parties considered ways to develop bilateral cooperation and future directions of interaction. Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan is interested in strengthening ties with African countries, despite the geographical distance.
The President emphasized that the republic is actively developing partnerships with African nations: a new embassy was recently opened in Ethiopia, and there are plans to open a representative office in Egypt as well. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan has become an observer in the African Union.
Samuel Abla Kwo highlighted the importance of the reforms being carried out in Kyrgyzstan, including the fight against corruption and the protection of national interests, particularly in the context of the situation surrounding 'Kumtor'. He also identified construction, digitalization, tourism, and the agro-industrial complex as key areas for joint cooperation.
Furthermore, the minister conveyed an invitation from the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, to visit the country next year, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Ghana's independence and the upcoming presidency in the African Union.
The parties expressed confidence that the upcoming visit will be a significant step towards strengthening ties between the two states.
