Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Samuel Ablaakwa.

During the discussions, the focus was on strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening interaction in areas of mutual interest, according to the information from the president's press service.

The head of state emphasized that Kyrgyzstan, despite its geographical remoteness, is interested in expanding cooperation with Ghana in both formats — bilateral and multilateral.

The president also noted the active steps taken to develop relations with African countries. In particular, last year, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan was opened in Ethiopia, and in the near future, the opening of a representation in Egypt is expected.

He added that in February of this year, Kyrgyzstan became an observer in the African Union, which creates new opportunities for cooperation within this organization, including during Ghana's presidency in 2027.

Samuel Ablaakwa conveyed greetings from the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and invited Sadyr Japarov to visit Ghana next year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the country's independence and the upcoming presidency in the African Union.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana also highlighted the importance of reforms in Kyrgyzstan, including anti-corruption measures and the protection of national interests, especially in the context of the "Kumtor" issue. He identified construction, digitalization, tourism, and the agro-industrial complex as priority areas for cooperation between the countries.

At the end of the meeting, Sadyr Japarov and Samuel Ablaakwa expressed confidence that this visit would serve as a foundation for further strengthening friendly and business relations between the states.
