President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with Ghana's Foreign Minister Samuel Ablaakwa, according to information from the president's press service.

During the meeting, various aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed, as well as prospects for interaction in areas of mutual interest for both countries.

Japarov emphasized that despite the distance, Kyrgyzstan is eager to deepen ties with Ghana in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

He also noted that Kyrgyzstan is actively developing its relations with African states, including the recent opening of an embassy in Ethiopia and plans to establish a diplomatic mission in Egypt.

The president added that since February 2026, Kyrgyzstan has become an observer in the African Union, which opens new opportunities for cooperation, especially in light of Ghana's presidency in this organization in 2027.

Samuel Ablaakwa conveyed greetings from Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama and invited Japarov to visit Ghana next year in connection with the celebration of the country's 70th anniversary of independence and the upcoming presidency in the African Union.

The minister also emphasized the importance of the reforms being carried out in Kyrgyzstan, including anti-corruption measures and the protection of national interests, particularly in the context of the Kumtor deposit. He highlighted promising areas such as construction, digitalization, the agro-industrial complex, and tourism for joint cooperation.

In conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the visit of Ghana's Foreign Minister would mark the beginning of a new chapter in the development of partnership and business relations between the two countries.
