
Today, March 27, the international tournament of the Poddubny Wrestling League (PWL 11) kicks off in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, featuring 19-year-old wrestler from Kyrgyzstan, Omurbek Asan uulu. He will compete in the freestyle wrestling category up to 61 kilograms. His opponent will be the experienced Russian athlete Chermen Tavitov, who has previously won the Yarygin Cup and was a finalist in a major tournament in Albania.
Omurbek has already made a name for himself on the domestic stage, winning silver at the Kyrgyzstan Championship at the end of 2025, where he narrowly lost to Bekzat Almaz uulu in a tense match. The bout with Tavitov will be an important test for the young wrestler and an opportunity to showcase his skills on an international level.
The PWL 11 tournament has gathered an impressive lineup of participants.
