From January 29 to February 1, the international Ivan Yarygin Cup is taking place in Krasnoyarsk — one of the most significant tournaments in freestyle wrestling. On January 30, the second day of events, the final matches were held in three men's weight categories and several women's weights. Details are provided by MiddleAsianNews.
Among the gold medalists:
Munkh-Erdene Bathuyag (Mongolia), Chermen Tavitov (Moscow), and David Baev (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug).
At the tournament in Krasnoyarsk, Munkh-Erdene demonstrated impressive strength and confidence, which helped him reach the finals.
In the final of the 57 kg weight category, Munkh-Erdene faced Musa Mekhtikhanov from Dagestan, winning with a score of 8:6.
Results of the competition:
Munkh-Erdene Bathuyag (Mongolia)
Musa Mekhtikhanov (Dagestan)
Khan Chong Song (North Korea) and Aryan Tyutrin (Belarus)
One of the most memorable fights for Munkh-Erdene was his victory over Khan Chong Song from North Korea, who is the youngest world champion in his category. In the semifinals, Khan Chong Song unexpectedly lost to the Mongolian wrestler by a margin of 12 points — 1:13.

It is worth noting that Munkh-Erdene Bathuyag, who won the Yarygin-2026 tournament, is also a medalist of the U-23 World Championship held in 2023 in Tirana. Interestingly, the Mongolian team did not participate in this championship, and Munkh-Erdene and his coach traveled to the competition at their own expense, which allowed them to achieve success. At the 2025 World Championship, he could not advance beyond the Round of 16, losing to Armenian wrestler Arsen Arutyunyan with a score of 8:13.

Bronze medals were also won by Mongolian wrestlers: Bolortuyaa Khurelkhüü in the 59 kg category and Enkhjin Tuvshinjargal in the 65 kg category.
